THIS WEEK IN BASEBALL

  • Waterford at Montville, Tuesday, 3:45 p.m.: The top two teams in the ECC clash again. The Indians won the first meeting 10-1.
  • Shelton at Hamden, Wednesday, 4 p.m.: The Gaels are on a hot streak and Hamden is…well…you know about the Green Dragons by now.
  • New Milford at Newtown, Monday, 6:30 p.m.: The SWC playoff race is tight and the Green Wave have three critical ones coming up — all on the road — culminating with this one against the contending Nighthawks.
  • Masuk vs. Weston at Harbor Yard, Wednesday, 7 p.m. — Another key SWC showdown as the league’s playoff race comes down to the wire.
  • Staples at Fairfield Warde, Friday, 4 p.m. — As of Monday, preseason favorite Staples was on the outside looking in on the FCIAC playoffs. With Warde hanging onto one of the last few spots, this is a big one for both clubs.
  • St. Joseph at Darien, Tuesday, 4 p.m. — Like many teams due to last week’s rainouts, St. Joseph is playing every day this week. Their schedule is no picnic. This matchup with the front-running Blue Wave will define the rest of their week against fellow playoff contenders Ridgefield, Warde and Norwalk.
  • Watertown at Northwest Catholic, Thursday, 3:45 p.m.: This game began on April 18 and was suspended in the 12th inning tied 5-5. Hopefully it finishes this week.
