NAUGATUCK >> MVP John Yish hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to pace an attack that saw six different players have RBIs as Oxford won its first NVL baseball championship with a 9-3 victory over Holy Cross Thursday.
Cole Chudoba pitched five innings, allowed two runs on five hits and earned the victory to improve his record to 8-0. The Wolverines (19-4) chased starter Nick Hernandez from the game early and scored in every inning but the sixth.
Matt Bonvicini was 3-for-3, including a pair of doubles and hit a home run in the seventh inning for Holy Cross (18-5), which took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
