WATERTOWN >> Torrington’s softball team beat Watertown 3-0 in a key game in the NVL standings Tuesday afternoon at Watertown.
Ali Dubois pitched a two-hitter with 9 strikeouts to hold back the fifth-place Indians while Alexis Tyrrell (2 hits, double, 2 runs), Lauren Jamieson (double, 2 RBI) and Taylor Rogers (RBI) did the job at the plate.
The Red Raiders, 10-4, now in fourth place, pushed Watertown back to 9-6.
Thomaston 17, Litchfield 2 >> Katie Everett (8 strikeouts) pitched a two-hitter for Thomaston at home while she (2-for-4), Erin Fainer (2-for-2); Alexa Milius (4-for-5); and Julia Romaniello (2-for-3) cleaned up at bat.
Lewis Mills 5, Housatonic 0 (5); Lewis Mills 21, Housatonic 0 (5) >> The Spartans ran away with a double header at Lewis Mills High School. Mary-Katherine Cormier had 14 strikeouts in the first game, 7 in the second. Mills is 6-8.
Baseball
Litchfield 7, Thomaston 5 >> Litchfield ended Thomaston’s eight-game winning streak behind Ryan O’Bernier (3-for-3, double, 3 RBI, 2 runs) and Matt Schweter (2-run double) at Litchfield in the Cowboys’ second win of the season. Nick Andro and Griffin McIntyre had RBI doubles.
Josh Guilmart (6.1 innings, 4 hits) allowed a Thomaston run in the first inning, then held the Bears scoreless while the Cowboys scored four runs in the first three innings and two more in the fifth.
Jake George was 3-for-4 for the Golden Bears, who scored four run in the top of the seventh. Evan Butkevicius had two RBIs. Jared Acker and Jared Kahn were 2-for-3.
Gilbert 2, Canton 1 >> Canton nursed a 1-0 lead through the fifth inning at Winsted’s Walker Field.
Then the Yellowjackets blew two runs across in the bottom of the sixth. Garrett Lombardo drove in the tying run. Austin Smith reached on a hit-by-pitch, scoring the go-head runs.
Cam Goulet struck out eight Warriors in six innings. Tim Smith closed out with three strikeouts in the top of the seventh.
Canton, from the NCCC, is 9-5. Gilbert is 6-7.
Shepaug 10, Wamogo 2 >> The Spartans put up all 10 of their runs in the first two innings at Ted Alex Field. Jack Pesce (2 doubles, 5 RBI), Clayton Schneider, Ethan Hibbard, Dave DeMeo and Alan Stinson drove in the Shepaug runs.
Jordan Bergs (3 hits, double) drove in both runs for Wamogo in the fifth inning.
Lewis Mills 8, Housatonic 1 >> The Spartans led Housatonic 3-1 after four innings at Lewis Mills High School, then finished it off with five runs in the bottom of the sixth. Owen Lacourciere was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run; Matt Rinkus had an RBI and a run; Will Coughlin hit a two-run triple in the fifth with a run.
Girls Tennis
Housatonic 4, Northwestern 3 >> Marina Matsudaira, Elia Matsudaira and Katherine McGuire won the first three singles matches at Housatonic High School.
Grace Herde/Marge Riccardelli took the Mountaineers over the top with a win at No. 2 doubles.
Maria Hester, with a Highlander win at No. 4 singles and Cecilia Petricone/Maggie Dougan and Amelia Lockwood/Emily Curtis with wins at No. 1 and 3 doubles kept it close.
Housy is 6-6; Northwestern is 3-9.
Shepaug 6, Brookfield 1 >> Shepaug’s Caroline Kelly, Emma Kassis, Kate Klein, Mddie Gorra/Jackie Doerwald; Abby Gorra/Nadia Racz; and Margaret Wolk/Sydell Lecher all won in a non-league match with the Bobcats. Lindsey Zaleski won at No. 2 singles for Brookfield.
The Spartans are 11-1.
St. Paul Catholic 5, Lewis Mills 2 >> Natasha Kempes, Victoria Kilbourn, Katie Pauloz and Olivia Kilbourn swept the singles for the Falcons. Sophia Penisse/Lizzy Etter added a win at No. 3 doubles.
Doubles winners for Mills were Emily Burzynski/Kara Schatz and Lauren McCard/Abby Shafer.
St. Paul is 9-4 in the NVL; Mills is 6-4 in the Berkshire League.

Lewis Mills won the 4 x 100 relay with individual wins by Lindsey Riordan (100 hurdles); Jaime Jackson (100 meters); Celina Daigle (300 hurdles); Ailene Berry (long jump); and Morgan Sederquist (high jump).

Wolcott Tech 180, O’Brien Tech 206 >> Jon Gasper shot a 42 at Torrington Country Club, leading the Wildcats through their 11th straight win of the season.
Carter Wheeler (43), Jacob Gasper (47) and Max Keller (48) cemented the win.
Joe O’Toole and Nate Schulick led the Condors with 46s.
O’Brien Tech is 7-5.
Lewis Mills 170, Litchfield 174, Terryville 211 >> The Spartans stayed lower at Fairview Farm Golf Course despite Cowboy Nathan Leigh’s medalist 38.
Tyler Goulet paced Mills with a 40; Mike Boucher and Andrew LeBlanc followed with 43s; and Matt Szymanski added a 44.
Chris Parsons and Chandler Boucher were next lowest to Leigh with 45s for Litchfield; Donnie Protzmann shot 46.
Mike Hills had a 42 for Terryville.
